Flood victims

Flood victims

Postby willemite » Fri Jan 17, 2020 10:03 pm

Hello. Harmony Radio News this evening was really laying in Valencia Government about the delay in the emergency funding which is now 4 months, they also said that Valencia were aware of the delays and declined to comment further on the situation. Now that this has been highlighted let’s see if they start processing payment more quickly.
Thanks to Harmony Radio.

is the help for flood victims from the valencian government,on top of what your insurance pays out, or instead of having your own insurance, I thought people had to insure there own homes? might have been quicker having your own insurance .

Yes we have our own insurance but this is something from the government because of the September flooding when we were evacuated like so many in Catral.. our insurance is not responsible for this disaster.

Our insurance company told me it was nothing to do with them because it was a natural disaster when I phoned again the hung up on me!! needless to say we promptly cancelled our policy and I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole!!Our Spanish friends who are helping us know just one couple that have had a full and final settlement. Good luck guys keep us informed!

We had the same attitude from our brokers, Cheflady, until my wife told them of another broker who was advertising help on Facebook for victims, even if they weren't customers, and suggested they would likely attract a lot of new customers with such a positive attitude. Later the same day, we received a call from our broker saying that Jennifer Cunningham had instructed all her offices to assist custmers with their claim registrations with the Consorcio.

We submitted our claim on 27 September, but haven't even received an offer yet. We didn't make a claim for the EU emergency funding from Valencia, as we could afford to pay for the urgent items, and thought it would be better going to people who have lost everything. Even more galling, then, that we have neighbours on our urb who have been paid out when they weren't even flooded!
