Looks like a nispero, and it is edible.

two or three large stones , spit those out eat the fruit .

some are better than others , hopefully yours are good . enjoy

Yes nisperro (or medlar fruit in England)
I usually peel them as the skins can be sour, but very nice.

I make jam from them but it’s a big job as you need to peel them and you walk around with 2 brownish hands for about a whole week…!
