Yes, all EU countries have a similar system and it's called the ERTE in Spain. Expediente de Regulacion Temporal de Empleo.
Under that, nobody can lose their jobs and all jobs are guaranteed when things are back to normal. Of course, if firms go under there may not be jobs to go back to.
The government will pay 80% of the workers declared salary and many firms, like El Corte Ingles, are making this up to 100% of the salary. It will also subsidise the wages of those whose hours have been reduced.
All based on the German Kurzarbeit system and all EU countries are paying into the fund depending on the GNI (gross national income) and the EU has allowed 180 billion euro of the budget to be released in the form of bonds.

Marcliff- are you sure the Spanish government are paying 80%? I’ve been advised it’s 70% of base salary. Really hope you’re right. Thanks

The Local ES says 70%. LaVanguardia says 80%.
El Corte Ingles says they will top up those on ERTE by 20% to give them 100% of their pay.
SEPE (the agency that pays unemployment benefit) says 70% but will be increased under special measures but doesn't say to what.
You pays your money and you takes your choice.
(Not sure if, like UK, any of this applies to the self employed or whether only to those on the PAYE equivalent).
