Glass curtains

Glass curtains

Postby TimT » Thu Feb 14, 2019 5:58 pm

Evening folks, we're planning on having glass curtains fitted to our front terrace, I've had quotes from a couple of companies, Euroguard and PPS, but the difference in quotes is over €500, so I'm after feedback on the 2 companies, because obviously €500+ is a lot of money, for what essentially should be the same product, so if anyone has experience of dealing with both it'd be helpful to have feedback.

TIA

I have to see on my email but I have a budget from a company in Torrevieja for a Glass curtain 4x1.8 meters and it was less than 2.000€. I asked for a friend.

Doing that will mean your IBI will be increased as you are providing another living space in the property

I thought that was only for fixed glass patio type like you see on upper balconies etc.
The glass curtains not classed as permanent as they fold back and can be easily removed.
If IBI is increased because of glass curtains then there may be a few shocked residents on my community if the council comes round for a revaluation.

And re the OP. Is it the same type of installation? Some companies use plastic sliders and others metal. Some have a fixed entry door whilst others can be slid back. Is the glass the same thickness double glazing?
Loads of other things like the tint on the windows etc can add to the cost.
I don't know of the firms you mention but do you have any neighbours who have used them?
Always good to have a personal recommendation for these things.
(I know that's what you're asking on here but if someone near you has had it done you can physically check the installation).

Cheers Marcliff, yeah I'll be sure to check the spec out, and yes, neighbours both sides have them, if they're out when we come out in a couple of weeks, I'll ask them

Do make sure that you formally check with your ayuntamiento to establish if planning permission or building licence is required. Don't rely on word of mouth as some people mistakenly believe that licensing is not needed. Some builders will offer this licensing service in addition to the actual work being undertaken .

We had euroguard and the glass front door does not have a trim fixed to the floor so no trip hazzard some companies fit a fixed one and can be a nuisance
