Granada Trip

Granada Trip

Postby Jan » Sun Apr 28, 2013 12:56 pm

Just recently back from a great trip to Granada for 3 days - Thanks for the recommendations on here - We had a lovely time.

We went with David's Coaches (Rosa Tours also do the trip) and it was good value for money at 119 euros (April 2013 price) for the coach & bed & breakfast in a city centre hotel. We actually had a suite with sitting room, bedroom and very nicely refurbished bathroom (probably just lucky as it was early season!).

It's very easy to get around by the frequent buses and many nearby taxi's (if wanted) and the city is quite compact with all the places of interest within easy reach. Walking is possible to most of the sights but the Alhambra and a few other sights might be a bit of a struggle uphill for some. The Alhambra is a definite must-see (tickets for this magnificent place are best bought in advance).

We went to some good eateries and Tapas bars. Obviously there are, no doubt, a few tourist traps but the ones we researched in advance were good and very reasonably priced. Lots of places, when you order a drink, bring a good tapas which, we found out to our delight, get more varied & often bigger & better with each drink ordered. After 3 drinks in one place, we went to one evening, we eventually had as much or more than we would have eaten for a starter and main meal together (expect to pay slightly more for the drinks but only a few extra cents - For example - Quesada is about 1.20 for a Cana (half-pint approx) and in the nicer bars of Granada that would be 2 euros but the 'free' Tapas are well worth any extra. The best Tapas bars are the "Bella & Bestia" chain (Beauty and the Beast). There are 4 of them in Granada.

If anyone wants any more information, just ask on here.

We also found a lovely Italian/Spanish restaurant (Casa Lopez Correa), run by a British lady who has lived in Spain for the last 15 years. Very nice atmosphere with a Moroccan sitting area too for those that just want a drink and Tapas. We were ordering a meal, but the Tapas that came with our first drink(unexpectedly) was enough for a starter, so we just ordered the main meal which was really good and reasonably priced. We would go there again. Website : http://casalopez.24shoppon.com/abous-us/
