If you have symptoms you know and then get help. If you have no symptoms there is nothing to gain by testing, other than to increase testing and positive figures to encourage the continuation of this madness.
Covid is here to stay, people will get sick, people will die. The facts now however is its no worse than many other illnesses.
I think the worlds government's have all got themselves in a corner with covid and don't know how to get out of it, having been involved in the main pandemic.
Governments are now almost controlled by scientists these days, previously unknown people who are now household names and powerful. These people will not give that up easily. Likewise the heads of health services are also more powerful and influential than ever and some household names. This supported by the constant scaremongering of the press has made this continue to the point that no government knows how to get back to normal, whilst these new household names don't want to give up their new found fame and power.
I'm not anti vaccine, ive had all 3, neither am I against some restrictions. But I do believe the time has been reached where we just need to get on with it, be aware of risks, but also accept that with the vaccine programmes this virus is now no more a threat than many other illnesses and the world needs to start accepting that.
Once that happens the world will start rebuilding, economies start growing and people can get on with their lives.
Yea, you've said that quite a bit

Michael C, your theory is probably correct but very wrong and unfair. If people wilfully and knowingly spread the virus, there’s no hope of preventing another lockdown People can die from it. I’d like to see the government putting hard hitting adverts on tv the same as those used to deter people drink driving. You don’t seem to be concerned or worried about catching covid but that’s your choice but you must understand that you are obliged to consider your neighbour/ fellow man. Your attitude is in my opinion, wrong. We owe it to our friends and neighbours to safeguard them. To suggest that you’d happily go out and about if you actually were infected is gross negligence and very wrong. I’d ask you to reconsider your views. I am not intending to offend you but so many people seem to be relaxed about the rules and as time goes on,more and more people will become infected and our economy will be in shreds..

There is a 3 programme series that was on last week' the royal institute christmas lectures'. This year it was hosted by Johnathan Van Tam and over the 3 programmes it clearly and simply explains the Covid virus, how it is transmitted and how we all can help reduce its spread. I would thoroughly recommend for anyone who can get catch up TV to have a watch, not only is it entertaining it is extremely informative and could even help your decision making over Covid.
It was on BBC4

I was speaking on the ‘phone yesterday with my friend in La Marina who tells me that her neighbours have now caught the virus and like everyone else have no way of reporting it. The tel number given is a Spanish recording and I’m told that it may ask for your Tel number but they never return the call. Clearly, numerous people are not being included in the daily numbers and never will be either. My friend’s husband ( asthmatic) was Very poorly when he had it. Wife ‘phoned surgery for help and after 4 days got antibiotics ( no return call ever)
Doctor promised a call a week after infection to have him PCR tested in Torrevieja but that never happened. I’m afraid the covid19 infections are higher but thankfully people seem to be able to manage. My brother in law ( NI) was prescribed antibiotics ( AMPICILLIN used for lungs and bladder problems) and had no after affects. I keep a packet in my drawer in Spain for any eventuality and have been very glad to have them. I’m not a doctor but I do self medicate if necesssry and as my husband has COPD I am aware that should he catch covid19, his lungs would be compromised so antibiotics will be on hand for that eventually.

I self tested positive on 17 December but was scheduled a PCR for the 22nd. I got a phone call on 27/12 informing me that my COVID levels were so high that I had to continue to isolate for ten days from the test. I have a phone consultation scheduled for tomorrow when, I hope to be released.
Friends that self tested positive on 30 December didn’t have to attend a PCR and were told to isolate for seven days.
The only conclusion we can draw is that they are overwhelmed with cases

It is the misuse and self medication of antibiotics that will eventually led to them been useless in the fight against bacterial infections. And when that happens covid will seem like small fry.

You are more than likely right. How are you feeling? Hopefully ok. I often think it might be easier to get it and put it behind you as long as there weren’t any side affects. Hope you get the all clear soon. Best wishes. R

Omicron has been found to occupy the upper airway, not the lungs. Gargling an Iodine solution from the chemist is a good preventative treatment. Also plenty of vitamin C, D and zinc. I am not medically qualified but this information can be found online.[/quote]
There is also a lot of information on the internet usually from reputable sources saying the above is completely untrue . Gargling iodine can lead to all sorts of problems if the iodine is ingested. It's probably best to get advice from a medical professional .

We live in Uk and I lost my 82 year old father 12 months ago to covid and mother has been left very breathless. Up till now my husband and kids and I have managed to avoid it. All vaccinated x3. 2 days before Xmas my husband and son tested+ we immediately isolated I however have tested daily but carried on shopping etc. Xmas day my daughter was + along with various friends of there’s. I have tested daily but it’s taken 10 days for me to show + and show symptoms. It is rife. Fortunately I’m not very I’ll so far but the new variant has spread like wildfire. Stay cautious and stay safe.
