Hip replacement

Hip replacement

Postby Tina and Gary » Sun Apr 14, 2024 9:51 am

Looking for advice ,
I have been waiting for about 18 months for hip replacement at Torrevieja hospital and don’t seem to be getting anywhere ( I’m 67 )
Obviously getting desperate and at this point considering going private , has anyone had their hip done privately and can make a recommendation ? Any advice will be gratefully received

What about the Cross Border Directive if you are in the Public Health System. I suppose the nearest country would be France or Portugal but any EU country once you have a referral. At least you would get the cost of the treatment back. You have to pay for accommodation and travel yourself. Did the UK remain in the Cross Border Directive? I know Northern Ireland is still part of it.

Same thing was happening to my mom. Getting the run around and more and more pain pills. Finally I decided to look into private. I went to Quiron, not very helpful, gave me a quote without explanation what is included. seemed very expensive. Asked Google and came on this site https://www.operarme.com/traumatology/
After reading we used their service and chose Imed in Elche. Very good service there. In the end it did cost more as stated but that was because my moms age is over 90 and she needed a few extra days in intensive care and more days in the hospital. Most people if younger will pay just the standard rate. But all in all excellent service.
