Holidaymakers in England will be free to travel abroad
Holidaymakers in England will be free to travel abroad

Holidaymakers in England will be free to travel abroad once the latest lockdown lifts at midnight on 2 December.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps told the BBC that there would be no ban on international travel, even for those living in Tier 3 areas.
He told the Radio 4 Today programme that as long as people from higher risk areas went straight to an airport "that is something you can do".
He said the new tier restrictions that will replace the nationwide lockdown on 3 December will only prevent people from the highest risk areas from travelling around the rest of the country.
But residents will be free to leave these areas to travel internationally as long as they follow the local rules in their destination and quarantine in the UK when returning from countries not on the travel corridor list.
Mr Shapps told the BBC that the government wasn't in the business of telling people that they could not travel, even though it has imposed a ban on all non-essential international travel since the start of the second lockdown
"You will be able to travel again after 2 December," he added. "Obviously, you should be sensible and cautious with it."Holidaymakers in England will be free to travel abroad once the latest lockdown lifts at midnight on 2 December.

Mr Shapps announced this morning that the quarantine period for people returning to the UK from destinations not on the travel corridors list will be reduced from 15 Decemberif they take a Covid test on day five. If the test is negative they will be freed from quarantine, if it's positive they'll have to isolate for the full 14 days.
Further details of the new test-and-release scheme, including the type of test required and the cost, have yet to be published by the Department for Transport.

I still get confused. I thought the Valencian region was closed in and out and yet people are still flying in to visit their holiday homes with no valid reason apart to check and clean gardens up. The ones I'm talking about are from the UK, England and Scotland

Believe me that there won't be a lot of people coming over purely because of the cost of the test both outbound and inbound, I know we aren't.

They seem to be getting 9.99 flights so not too bad combined. But are they allowed in from the UK if not resident here and for no good reason

People coming to the Comm Valenciana are landing at an airport within the Community so they are abiding by the regulations in force right now.

Not a responsible message from Grant Shapps, people from the highest risk areas cannot travel in their own Country but it's fine for them to go abroad. No wonder they can't get on top of the virus. If you're in a high risk area please do the right thing and stay there.

I really don't see the issue. Before entering Spain all travellers must produce a negative PCR test result, carried out no more than 72 hrs before arrival. They are then temperature checked on arrival and added to track and trace via their entry medical form they need to complete.
This makes these visitors safer than those you already come across in the supermarket, bars, resturaunts etc.
Seriously,if you fear properly tested visitors, over all the unknown people you already come across there's something wrong.
