Get the screw locks that go through the middle of the window frames. Only about 6 euros each and meant to stop them lifting them out. I also put the alarm on overnight. Bedroom and toilet OK not alarmed but every other room is. We always put our shutters down too.

What do those locks look like, Chrisdee? And where can I buy them?

I would say the Ferreteria by Tescos sell them. You can get white, silver and gold. They may only do white but you can get different coloured ones in other places. You dtill a hole though the frames so the little plaque can be put there and screwed on then the big kind of screw goes into that and locks it. Sounds complicated the way I've described it but it's not.

Saying that we have never liked grills so we have had all windows fitted with security double glazing and doors with triple glazing, all with multilocking points by Simply Doors.
We also learned the hard way .. twice.

When I first moved here 23 years ago the windows that they were fitting to the majority of properties were absolute cr*p and as Chris Dee said many fitted the central lock to stop them simply lifting the windows out.

Crikey sounds like some of you are living in Fort Knox what a way to live with the fear of Burglars all around...... gosh glad I don't feel the need to live like that.

All we are saying is close your windows and doors and put the alarm on when you go to bed. Maybe keep your bags away from windows.

Not living in fear but being careful.. Not difficult and seems sensible to me.

Been here over 10 years and never had a problem with burglars.
