House Insurance
House Insurance
by Matt B » Fri Jul 03, 2020 8:43 am
Hi All,
I have my house insurance with BBVA and they charge an annual premium of €570 per year for a five bedroom house, which seems on the high side. They are suggesting that I must purchase their insurance as we have a small mortgage with them, which I’m considering challenging.
I was wondering whether reads could give me their thoughts on the above premium based upon their insurance costs and also recommend an insurance company, broker Or intermediary.
Thanks

They can only insist that you have insurance but it's up to you where you get it try Caser.es online quote

First , I would go and get a couple of "like for like" quotes which , I'm sure will be a bit cheaper . Then go into your BBVA branch with the cheaper quotes and tell them to match the price or you will be taking the cheaper option .
I had the same thing years ago with the old Caja Murcia bank , now part of Bankia . You may have to give a months written notice to cancel the insurance policy as I did but , unless the law has changed you are under no obligation to take out house or life insurance with a bank - even if you have a mortgage with them . Just watch that they don't screw you , by charging extra commission every month if you do cancel a policy .
Go in branch and haggle and haggle hard !

Go and see Kim or Donna at Right Move insurance , next four to Chop Shop. Fabulous ladies, first class service and very good products and prices. Plus you get to chat and have a giggle.

I had my 4 bed detached villa with Sabadell. Wanted 380.00 this year. Right Move offered same, like for like at 280.00. Big saving. They also got my car insurance 60.00 cheaper.
