And this is what we pay our taxes for? The traffic on there is terrible and I avoid it at all costs. I've lived here for 15 years and think I've contributed enough into the coffers to have a decent main street in Quesada which is safe for everyone to use. Sick of arrogant people saying if you don't like it move back. We pay our dues and should get something in return.
Lavender, i have no doubt you, like i & many others have paid our taxes & contributed in many other ways to the local community. Unfortunately there are many hundreds, possibly thousands more who have lived & continue to live "under the radar" contributing nothing except perhaps to moan on forums like this, i have said before & will again now that if all these moaners became legal & paid their dues & demands then maybe, just maybe the local authorities would put something back into an area that supports & not just complains!!!!
Just my view,
Regards,
Dave

Well said Lavender. Quesada is a disaster, a nightmare for drivers and pedestrians alike. We have been promised improvements for a long time, it’s about time it was carried through.

good points on here (apart from the 2 mugs of course)
I was walking back from masymas a few weeks back and looked over at the crossing there was an elderly couple bang in the middle and a car drove right by them
I asked them if they were ok but they were in shock the man said "I don't think they saw us"
awful stretch of road

In my opinion it seems that for the majority of drivers the black and white zebra crossings mean speed up and beat the pedestrians who are already half way across. I’ve taken to ensuring that all vehicles have stopped before I even attempt to cross, this usually means waiting to allow the drivers who are totally oblivious to the pedestrians to whizz by. And don’t get me started on mobile phone use while speeding through tightly packed streets!

Improvements are badly needed along Avda Las Naciones . I think the council should turn the land opposite Don De and the waste ground next to the Spice Hut into car parks and have a " train " running up and down between car parks with drop off points along Avda Las Naciones .
This scheme could work during the day , provisions could be made for disabled badge holders as well as the taxi rank to be placed in a central position .
I think it would be an idea to have the proposed plans on show at the Town Hall office in Quesada so people could comment . I for one would like too see all the crap signage gone , pavements made widened with more cross over points , maybe some palm trees and so on . It could be made to look very nice .
Anyway , just had my UK council tax bill . 10 payments of £242 over the next year , local Police , Ambulance and Fire Stations all shut , TWO monthly bin collections and street lights that go off at midnight ! Moan over

Yes, that puts things into perspective for those complaining about their taxes paid in Spain...Whereas it is a fraction of that for near equivalent tax ( closer to around £242 for the entire year, as far as I recall) here. Which is not to say that Avda de las Nacionales is OK, of course it needs the improvements and let's hope they can get them started this winter as indicated.

My original point was simply to find out if this was still going ahead and that has been answered, thank you.
However, since last year, quite a bit of building work has been going on and the builders seem to ignore the bit in front hence the pavements becoming loose and cracked.
Wherever you go, crossing a road is taking a big risk. We always use the crossings as we reckon there's a 50-50 chance of getting across as opposed to just crossing wherever. Not just a Quesada thing and saw someone almost get taken out on a crossing in Benijofar this morning (which also needs a lot of work doing to the pavements and crossings, by the way. Benimar seems to have had some money spent on it but Benijofar not so much.)

Dear Sir,
We have been informed by the Diputación de Alicante, who are in charge of the project providing 60% of the funding, that we will receive information during November regarding a revised commencement date. Until then we cannot offer you any more clarity.
As soon as we know, we will advise everyone
Best regards

They probably did considering the last post on this thread was 10 months ago.

there are other nationalities here resident in Quesada , a lot of them own cars pay suma and transfer tax when they buy the car , so therefore contribute, but should be on the padron for monies to be allocated to the area , even as someone said are under the radar, they should be paying property tax etc,vat etc on goods purchased,so are contributing , The biggest problem are the british reg and other nationalities car owners who pay nothing towards the maintenance of the roads, and think its ok to drive round blatantly for months or even years on end , counted 25 brit reg cars this morning while walking round benimar, I wonder how many of them are uk insured, taxed n tested, food for thought,Quesada Kim wrote:I couldn’t agree more.
