It's ITV time again, I'm thinking how hard can it be to take it myself. Is it easy enough with only basic Spanish? Which is bast location? Do I book or just turn up and wait?
Any tips please...
Is anyone going in the next week or two maybe I could come along and get a feel for how it works.

Been a while since I did it myself but easy at the San Bartholome one.
No need to book just turn up and here's the procedure:-
I use the Almoradi / San Bartolome ITV station. Go during siesta as it is quieter.
Drive straight down beside the petrol pumps and back round the bottom. There are three lanes. Park on one of the stop lines, or behind another vehicle if there are any in front of you. Go into the office.
Paperwork needed:
Inspeccion Tecnica de Vehiculos & Permiso de Circulacion – loose, not in their folder
You don’t need SUMA, license, passport, padron etc.
At the counter hand over your paperwork and the fee - around 65€. They give you a receipt which you need to hand back when the test is finished.
Wait until you are called, so keep your window open. They may call you by name or by registration number, and they tell you which lane to go into.
The tester tells you where to stop, takes vehicle details and a photo of the front of the car, gets you to open the bonnet for a look round – I was impressed that they even check the oil level. He then gets you to operate lights, horn, wipers and washers, and he checks seatbelts.
You then leave the car and move to the far end away from the test area whilst the tester checks exhaust emissions and brakes. Emission test is done at both low and high revs. They also record noise level.
He then drives it over the pit and you get back into the car. He goes down the pit and tells you to operate the brakes and then the steering, tells you to move it forward until he says stop, and you operate the brakes again. There’s a monitor beside your car where you can see pictures of the underside of the car when he uses his camera to scan it. They also rock the car about whilst they examine the suspension.
Then you move the car to the parking area, go back to the office and take a seat until they’ve processed your results. They call your name, you hand over the receipt, and they return your paperwork along with the test results and ITV sticker (if you’re lucky).
And they speak basic English too.

Hi,
After taking advice from here I recently took mine to San Bartolome, as they say it's very easy. You don't have to book but I did online and when I arrived bypassed all those who hadn't.

I completed the ITV recently at San Bartolome - it really is very easy - I booked online & you bypass the queues - the only problem I had was listening out for my car reg or make on the PA system - they talk so fast! anyway luckily the other guys in the line quickly motioned me to get in line - the guys in the ITV test are very good & they speak English ok - just make sure your car is ready for the test ie bulbs, lights etc etc - the test is far easier to pass than the UK MOT (is that a good or bad thing!) go for it - the Spanish guys are really helpful.

At Torrevieja, they tell you what lane to take, but sometimes they say, any lane.
Also after the steering and suspension check, you get the windscreen sticker ( or not ) straight away from the cubicle there, so no need to go back to the office.
I've been there sometimes when after the first checks I've been told to go and wait at the far end and they do everything else themselves, including the steering abd suspension checks.

There is a cubicle at the end of the testing station right by the pit where your steering and suspension is tested.
At the end of the test, the examiner goes into the cubicle, which is open, and then gives you your paperwork and hopefully a windscreen pass sticker. If you have had to sit in the car whilst doing the tests, he will bring your papers over to you, which is a matter of a few feet, then you drive off of the pit and away you go.
So no need to go back to the office. The cubicle is in the middle.
Okay now.
