Long Stay

Long Stay

Postby Jersey » Mon Dec 05, 2022 12:50 pm

Good Afternoon All
I posted recently about the 90 day rule and my question was answered however I would like to ask if the same 90 day rule was the same for Gibraltar.
Would we be able to drive through France and Spain to Gibraltar and then come back into Spain for the 90 days.
A bit confusing but I hope you can give me the info.
Thanks
Jayne and Jamie.

The way I see it is, if you drive through france and Spain to get to Gibraltar, the time/days it takes will be deducted from the 90 days, this will also include the days it takes you to drive back?

If you are travelling on British passports, it wouldn’t make any real difference as the 90 days permitted is in a 180 day roll over. I don’t think you can leave after 90 days and return until the next 90 days are up. Hope you understand my wording.

You are best using a Schengen calculator like this one https://www.visa-calculator.com/

The 90/180 day rule applies to all countries in the Schengen area. France and Spain are in and Gibraltar is not (officially). So the minute you enter France you are in and when you cross into Gibraltar (provided your passport is stamped) you will be officially out again.

So put all your planned entry and exit dates into the calculator and it will clearly tell when you must leave the Schengen zone and from what date you can return and for how long.
