No this the idiots in the UK again, 12 months ago it was toilet paper and big queues around supermarkets, if half of them had a brain they’d be dangerous. Can only happen in the UK

I was listening to a man on UK radio and he used to be a HGV driver and left as he was only being paid 8 pounds 70 an hour, the minimum wage. That is why there is a shortage of drivers he said.

They don’t get enough for a skilled job, when I took my HGV in 1980 it cost me over a thousand pound for a week course which back then was a huge amount in those days, not everyone has this amount of money to pay out , and even if they pass the HGV test they don’t become experienced HGV drivers overnight , something this hopeless Government seem to think that all the problems will be solved by having a load of inexperienced drivers on the road, like new car drivers they really start to learn when they hit the roads on their own .

A combination of factors has created the lorry driver shortage. There was already a shortage of HGV drivers but Brexit lead to over 25,000 drivers from the EU heading home compounding the issue. So a mix of reasons for the problem including Brexit. However the problem has been made worse recently because the Govt has been asleep on the job. There have been warnings from the Road Haulage Assoc numerous supermarkets and distribution companies that there was going to be supply chain problems for months but the Govt has done bugger to make contingency plans until it's reached this terrible state. They will do anything to deny Brexit having anything to do with it. In fact they have been silencing the media. No mention of Brexit in supply chain issues on the BBC, in fact various companies saying they've been interviewed about the situation and when they said Brexit was part of the problem that bit was edited out. So Brexit has had a hand in this for sure, but it might not have been such an issue had our Govt not just ignored the looming problem and put plans in place.

HI...absolutely right...a government that always looks to blame others for its failings. I don't know about getting ears syringed...Perhaps Suzi you could get your rose tinted specs removed as far as the British government is concerned. Many people phoning in to talk shows etc have said their comments when Brexit were mentioned have been edited out of their remarks. Keep safe all.

I only meant that the BBC wouldn't mention Brexit in relation to the supply chain issues. A few weeks back there was a very clear contrast between the reporting on the BBC versus ITV, Channel 4 and 5.
