It's probably due to the weather. We lose channels during heavy rain and have to rescan when the weather improves.

It should not be necessary to do a rescan simply because of a short lived temporary loss of signal be it due to weather or any other reason.

I have two different Freesat receivers (neither Humax) on a 1.8m dish both of which have experienced weather driven signal loss many a time but they invariably come back with zero intervention.

If a rescan works that's fine, just saying it makes little sense that it would.

I have lost ITV 2 and 4 on the satelite since about a week, have done a rescan which didn't help, was wondering if you have to pay for these channels now ?

No, you don't have to pay for anything.
You've lost them because of the weather. It always affects the signal and some channels, being weaker than others, go off first.
In extreme circumstances the wind may have moved your dish or LNB a little but the winds haven't been that strong. If it has moved you'll need it realigned.
Like Arnie, they'll be back.
And no, there should be no need to rescan your channels at all. Our Humax doesn't need it and neither does the direct sat connection.

Why have you got an open LNB?

I suppose you'll have lost Animal Planet now lol.

I lost most of my channels when the rain was at its worst yesterday but Sky news
was still available which kept me updated on Covid-19 and the mess that Italy, Spain and the UK are in.
