Diesel cars have to be Euro 6 compliant

That is an incorrect statement. My Diesel is not. Its a 2008 Mercedes and is classified as a B.

B sticker -
petrol cars and light vans registered since January 2000
Diesel cars and light vans registered since January 2006
Vehicles with more than 8 seats, petrol or diesel, registered since January 2005

Petrol vehicles must comply with Euro 3 standards and diesel vehicles with Euro 4 and 5

C Stickers
Petrol cars and light vans registered since January 2006
Diesel cars and light vans registered since January 2014
Vehicles with more than 8 seats, petrol or diesel, register since January 2014

Petrol vehicles must be EU 4, 5 or 6 compliant and diesel vehicles EU 6 compliant.

Those before those dates will be class as A and not receive a sticker.

Only Madrid and Barcelona have so far instigated the sticker protocol making them mandatory and will result in a 90 euro fine if no sticker is displayed.A further fine of up to 600 euro is in place if the vehicle does not meet the standards shown.

Therefore, Bee, your friend with a light diesel van registered in 2005 will not receive a sticker and will be classed as Group A.

I feel sorry for people with old cars that are running perfectly well but cannot obtain a sticker, they won't be able to sell their car, who will want it, its a bit of a nightmare. Will the Government come up with a plan to give them something if they part exchange for a new car? Its a right old mess
