Masks outdoors to be relaxed
Masks outdoors to be relaxed
by vale01 » Mon May 17, 2021 8:52 pm
Informacion online is reporting that Fernando Simon, the director of the Centre for the coordination of health alerts and emergencies ( CCAES) has stated that its very likely that in the next few days a relaxation of the mask regulations will be announced due to the progress of the vaccination campaign and the good epidemiology...

That is disappointing as I really think that our wearing of masks has made the difference and is the reason we have been able to get the rates down despite the poor vaccine roll out. Can't think of a worse thing than being around the renegade Madrilenians who will be the first to dispose of their masks.
The way things are going, Spain wont be on the UK's green list until the summer is over especially if this stupid idea goes ahead.

You can carry on wearing one if you like, but for me when it's 90 degrees in the shade no thanks, it's a fact that transmission is far less likely outdoors, also social distancing will still be in place, scientists are now saying that the wearing of masks outdoors in the summer when the the risk levels are much lower can do more halm than good, as for the green list it won't matter what colour we are in if masks are to be worn outside, tourists will go to Portugal and Greece...
ALSO if you cast your mind back to January, we were wearing masks yet Alicante province was recording upto 4000 cases a day.....

But how many more if masks had not been worn?
A year ago masks were essential to help prevent the spread so I am not sure the current view is right .plus hospital staff still wear them so surely that indicates their efficacsy.

So if your keeping a distance from the crowd and yes its your choice to do so. Which i am sure people will still be worried about this. And its your choice to wear a mask if you so choose to do So. And when on a busy bus or market place then wear a mask for your safety but come on walking along the sea edge with the fresh sea air blowing that must be a safer place. ?

The UK,USA, Australia, New Zealand and Israel as examples never made masks compulsory outdoors. They only made them compulsory on public transport and indoors. All these countries are way ahead of Spain, so I disagree that wearing masks outdoors has achieved anything.

I agree with you on masks, but the reason the UK, USA, and Israel are doing so well is solely down to being a few weeks ahead of Spain in vaccinations...

In everyone's excitement to rip off their vestment of safety don't forget this pandemic is far from over. There are still many vulnerable people out there and you can still be a carrier of the virus without knowing it, even with vaccination. I for one would be beside myself if I thought my inconsideration for others had caused an illness or heaven forbid a death. If you are clearly on your own, no one around then its a safe bet you couldn't pass anything on, but a carte blanche decision to ignore the possibility of contagion to others is for me at the moment a stretch to far and we will continue to think of others when around them.
