Some historical facts to mull over if you so wish.
Asian flu in 1957 infected an estimated 40-50% of the world population, killing between 1 and 2 million people which included 116,000 Americans. It affected mostly the younger age groups,In England 9 million people were infected and at one time, one out of two children were away from school. 5.5million people were treated by there Doctor ( including myself )advice given take one Aspirin and go to bed, which I did for three days.
No lock down no school closures.
In 1968 the 'Hong Kong'flu killed an estimated 1-4 million people, including 100,000 Americans and 30.000 in England. Once again no lock down and no closures, no businesses going bust and no thousands of people losing their jobs, and no destruction of the world economies.
Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Also the mortality figures from Hong Kong flu:
The Hong Kong flu pandemic of 1968-69 also began in southern China and led to a similar number of deaths worldwide – though in the UK the number was higher than for Asian flu, totalling around 80,000.
The young are taking the full brunt of this and will do so for years to come. The elderly and the vulnerable should make their own decisions about “shielding” should they feel the need to do so - with as much support as necessary from the government but the fit under 60’s should be allowed to get on with their lives.

Glassfull wrote:Let’s get this right, the older you get, the more colds and flu you might have had which, according to Dr. Karol Discredited, would set up your defences for Covid 19. Why then, are older people more susceptible? Am I missing something?
No, Glassfull, you're not missing something. Dr. Karol's claim that immunity to colds and 'flu developed over any amount of years will protect us from Covid-19 is false. SARS-CoV-2 is a NEW virus and any similarity in effect to other coronaviruses, such as SARS and MERS, have yet (if) to be proven. That's why the UK government had to do a u-turn on their original "herd immunity" theory, because scientific advice from Imperial College London suggested that around 300,000 people would have to die in England before it would be possible to prove (or not) herd immunity.
I'm afraid Prof. Sikora (who is an oncologist, not a virologist or epidemiologist) has been discredited by one of the UK's top universities and multiple scientific communities - here's a selection:
https://www.theguardian.com/science/200 ... al-college
http://www.dcscience.net/tag/karol-sikora/
https://www.thecanary.co/uk/2017/02/22/ ... ght-video/
The best description on here is the member who described his theories as "quackery" - I'd call them dangerous quackery.
