Media Mart in la Zenia ..INSURANCE SCAM

I visited the Media Mart store in La Zenia Boulevard yesterday to buy 2 electrical items.

The floor sales staff were very very helpful and couldn’t do enough to help me choose what I wanted, and at one of the section desks the nice man gave me an itemised printout to go and pay for my purchases. He asked for my name and address and postcode and when I asked why he needed it? Because I don’t want any insurance I told him….the salesman told me it’s only because Media Mart monitor which areas buyers are coming from!

At the desk I mentioned again I did not want insurance (because they had mis-sold me some insurance on a TV last year-on purpose which was naughty, and annoying!), then he walked with the printout in his hand carrying my boxes and accompanied me to the sales till
to pay. I asked him to give me the printout which he did and he walked away. I then looked at it.

The cashier saw the itemised printout in my hand and asked me to give it to her. The printout was for €62. I withheld the printout, and passed her the 2 items, said I just want to pay for these please..my items cost €49!

YES! The cheek of it! The salesman had added 2 lots of insurance to the bill after me telling him twice that I didn’t want it! UNBELIEVABLE!! BUYERS BEWARE!!
When I complained to the cashier she asked for the itemised printout so that she could cancel the insurance…….

This happened to us a month ago when I bought a printer & ink cartridge. The sales guy did exactly the same. Which I realised at the till when she asked for a lot more money. I refused to pay until she amended it

Although not as bad as your experience, they did try and assert pressure for me to take out insurance for a fridge freezer. When I said we would only use it for 2-3 months twice a year, she said that was likely to result in a problem with the fridge.

Avoid Media Mart at all costs, their service is beyond horrible. I bought a printer there and wasn't scammed into accepting insurance but they did charge my bank account twice for the amount. I only found that out after I got home and despite a zillion emails and another visit to the store I still haven't received a refund to this day. First and last time I went there, for me Amazon only from now on.

One year ago…They sold me insurance for ‘ 30 days ‘the salesman said and which I agreed to but then they continued to take a further 2 payments until it was finally cancelled.

It was difficult to get it stopped but they never refunded the other 2 payments they took from me.

I reported the matter to Média Mart - that a member of their staff said he was selling me 30 days insurance for €4.99 this payment showed clearly on the itemised printout I was given, but in fact he had fraudulently (sold) me a full years insurance payments of €4.99 per month!

Media Marts unscrupulous’ sales staff (for want of a better word) need investigating and the matter sorted out by Media Mart head office (but I’m sure they know and accept what is happening on their sales floor!)

Media mart is a european operation with corporate headquarters in Ingolstadt Germany , contact details are easily found on line , maybe drop them an email with your complaint .

Quite a few shops ask for name and postcode, Leroy Merlinis one. We have never bought insurance so it is a marketing technique.
