Medical Emergency insurance

Is there anyone else on the forum who is UK resident and spends several months in Spain and has pre-existing medical conditions?

We are planning on spending about 5 1/2 months at our apartment over the winter, I have managed to get house insurance which covers us for more than 60 days away but I am struggling with Travel Insurance. We currently have our annual travel insurance with EHIC Plus which covers us up to 90 days for less than £100, but I need one which will cover us with pre-existing medical conditions for 180 days. I'm not worried about travel delays, lost luggage etc it's just the medical emergency and repatriation side of the insurance I need, we have EHIC cards for routine health problems. I currently get quotes from £400 to over £1000 which is a ridiculous price, it would be cheaper to book flights after 90 days to go home for a week than to pay that kind of money. Or is there any type of cover in Spain we can buy just to cover such events?

Can anyone help, I am tearing my hair out?

If you have pre existing it is always a fortune to get cover but you would be treated with your SIP card for emergency treatment.

Yes we have EHIC cards for reciprocal health care, it's just if anything serious like an accident where one or both of us are in a coma or something happens on the flight, and we need emergency help and repatriation so I really am just after medical emergency cover.

I have a Gold card with Sabadell and have Travel Insurance covered free and it covers what you are looking for

We used to have a NatWest Gold Advantage account which included travel insurance but now our accounts are with Santander and they don't have such a benefit unfortunately.
