More traffic today?

Has anyone else noticed more traffic on the roads today?

We can't see traffic from our property as we are behind walls but live about 80m from a a main road through our estate and can hear the vehicles. There seems to be much more traffic today and if anything there should be less than a weekday as most essential workers will only be out Mon - Fri.

Hope it's not the people from inland areas heading to their holiday homes for the weekend. I've read about some coastal towns barricading most of their access roads and stopping non residents from entering.

Could be because the shops are closed tomorrow and they are doing shopping today. Apparently shops are opening good Friday and easter Monday to ease the amount of people going out on the Thurs and Tues.

There are no shops near us that are usually open on Sundays so I don't think it's that. A vehicle has just gone down our side street with music blaring out at full volume as well.

I'd read about the Good Friday and Easter Monday opening as well.

Yes there are extra checkpoints being mounted to stop people from inland villages trying to access their second residences. Police in Santa Pola turned back 8 cars yesterday including one from Madrid. They have permanent road checks going into Gran Alacant, Santa Pola and further up at Playa Lisa as people were arriving during the night and early morning trying to access their holiday homes hoping they will not be noticed.
