I wouldn’t worry about it being genuine. I’d be more concerned about ensuring that it’s fitted by a reputable person who has a good name to uphold. They’ll buy good quality batteries and fit them well so that they look after their reputation.

The computer and electronic shop up near the post office in Dona Pepa (next block up from Gama) is run by two very helpful and friendly guys. They are building up a good reputation and have a good stock of items.

Unless it's a premature failure occurring during a phones first couple of years while it's on sale prior to being superseded then generally, by the time a phone is old enough to require a new battery, the manufactures will have long since stopped producing them which leaves you with two choices, neither of which are necessarily good.

1. You buy a genuine OEM battery but because of the time factor it will have been sitting in a stock room somewhere under varying degrees of less than ideal storage conditions (needs to kept cool and partial charged) meaning that when finally placed into service very often it will turn out to be little better - or even worse - than the one you are replacing.

2. You buy a Chinese generic knock off (often masquerading as genuine OEM) the performance and longevity of which can be disappointing in the extreme not to mention potentially dangerous.

Hobsons choice!

Try Quesada Computers, few doors up from Mulberrys. They fix phones as well as computers & very friendly service.

Ah the Samsung J3.

Cheap junk when it came out and it hasn't improved with age - and now a failed battery.

Bearing in mind my earlier comments regarding replacement batteries, if it were me I'd dump it and put the cost of the battery replacement towards something better, even secondhand.
