New Caixa Bank card ?

New Caixa Bank card ?

Postby park footer » Sat Mar 23, 2024 9:55 am

We are non residents and I went to change my passport details at the bank. I was told I have to have a new bank card. All the forms duly signed etc and I have now received an email with the contractual information. It looks like this is a credit card but also acts as a debit card paying off the balance in 2 days. Is this right or can I just request that I continue with my debit card. I don’t want or need a credit card. Has anyone any experience using the new card? Thank you.

Been using it for a while now. It works fine...and as a credit card you have more safeguards I think

Definitely get more safety with a credit card, Spanish banks can be a nightmare reclaiming fraudulent use of a card

We are also non residents and have had the card for about 4 months. It’s both a debit and credit card, every payment goes through as normal debit, but if you want a particular purchase to be on credit card, go on the App and select the purchase and pay monthly option, it will now be a credit card purchase. That is my understanding anyway. I’ve only used it as a debit card without any problem.

I am a non resident also, I was given a bank card when transferred to Caxia from Bankia. I only agreed to the card for ID at the bank when depositing an annual top but suddenly found I had a charge of 45 euros. I was told this is because I need to use the card at least one every 3 months or I will get a charge, I was not told this at the beginning or I would have declined the card. Hence I have given the card back.

I have had the same experience. It was the only card I could have for free. I just use it as a debit card as before.

Don’t really understand why non residents have a Spanish bank a/c,just use Wise or similar accounts,no monthly charges & better conversion rates.Pay all your d/debits through them.
