New rules when travelling to England.

I don’t think there is a shortage of lateral flow tests but you won’t be able to use the ones they give out in the UK. They are looking for companies to make them and they will have to be bought same as PCR tests so they can see who tests positive.

Why would it be any different for the labs that are currently recognised for the PCR tests that people are currently paying for and returning to a recognised lab. Antigen tests are taken the same way as PCR tests. The results are ready in about 5 mins so the labs would have instant turnaround for customers.

2 lots of neighbours went El Raso today for the tests. They said it was a right farce. Called out their names, no gloves on, no washing of hands before the next person, took a swob from one side of their cheek and then put the swob on the table with the others, just laying there. My neighbours said it was terrible the lack of hygiene

Its 2-3 minutes maximum, 40 euro and must be cash...
I get the feeling most are not going through tax and that the tests are not that important really. All anyone wants is the negative certificate, with no real interest in the test or result as long as a negative certificate is provided.
By 4th Oct these are no longer required anyway.

From 4th October I take it if you are fully vaccinated and travelling into the U.K (Scotland/Wales/N.I/England) you do not need a pre departure Antigen test but you do have to book a Day 2 PCR test and complete your Locator Form. The Day 8 test is scrapped.
The Day 2 test may change to an Antigen test towards the end of October but it has no status yet.

Out of interest, Bee...where have you seen that the 4th October change applies to the UK, and not just England?
From what I can see on Gov.UK at the moment, the rules apply on travel to England only.

It's on the gov.scot and gov.wales websites. Both say that they are aligning with England on the tests.
Just Wales arguing that the PCR test should be kept after the end of October.

Ah - sorry. I couldn't see anything on the gov.wales site - but I only looked at the pre-departure tests page, which clearly states that you DO need an antigen test if arriving in Wales.
