No doubt wee Jimmy Crankie will announce on the 29th that Scotland will fall into line with England re testing. Hope I’m wrong.
Testing in Scotland is much more expensive than elsewhere.

Wee Jimmy Crankie! Ha, fantastic!

We are coming over to Quesada to take over the keys for our new property and we have already ordered our test for returning to the U.K. we don’t return until 21st November. They are delivering the tests on Tuesday (we don’t leave the U.K. until 1st November. About an hour after I booked the tests the reference number (email) that you need for your U.K. locator form email came through. We used ‘experts medical’ £28.00 each and the lady on the phone was very helpful. We are flying from Scotland. So looking forward to coming over where most people are wearing masks as this is the case in the part of Scotland I live in.

You are confusing it with the Antigen test before travel to the UK which is no longer required. What has happened is that the Day 2 test changes from the more expensive PCR test to the cheaper Antigen test from this Sunday for arrivals into England. The reason behind the change is to facilitate families going on mid-term break who will now only require the cheaper antigen test on their return thus saving them a considerable amount of money.

thanks for the explanation Bee, much appreciated. My husband and I seldom travel due to health problems and hospital treatments so are rather lacking in current situation. My son and his wife had heard Johnson’s speech where he said “all restrictions lifted”, nothing had been said on Ryanair site when booking, so thought this was another test nit needed. It us the first time he had been to see us since 2019 as Covid restrictions came into being 2020. Looking on the bright side backwards and forwards to the airport made a few taxi drivers very happy!

I agree it is very confusing with all the changes and the different types of tests and requirements for vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers. What makes it more confusing is the difference for entry to UK for the various home countries as Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are different to England. It is wise to check and check again before travelling to make sure you have everything required. It can work out very expensive being refused boarding because you are missing a piece of paper. Wouldn't back to pre March 2020 be just wonderful but we seem to be a long way off from that unfortunately. Just look at what happened after the Twin Towers and here we are over 20 years later with the same rules which were introduced then for travel.

Please note if travelling to Scotland, as of now, we still need to book PCR tests before we travel to Scotland, I know Wales are allowing Lateral flow tests from 31 October. Scotland have not changed yet.
Politically they don’t need to, as half term is finished and schools are back.
As usual wee Jimmy Crankie wants to be different.

Lateral Flow Tests, ENGLAND
The bookings for the cheapest tests (£19) are already sold out up to
Nov 3rd arrival date. (With a Recorded home delivery the following day)
Act quickly if you are relying on finding & booking a cheap test.
Basically - You have two days from your arrival date to complete the test - precise rules apply to that
