NIE Number

I have received an email from our bank asking for my wifes NIE number. I sent a reply with said number.
The bank have sent another email saying they need the NIE document.
Can someone tell what document are the referring to, as the only official document I have with the number on is the Padron.

I don’t have a green NIE, maybe the lawyer has the original as he just sent me it in an email when I was in the uk

Mine's not green either, it's white but it's the original stamped by Orihuela Police Station as our they gave them to us when we were there.

They stopped issuing green ones about 15 years ago.
The residency one is green but we got our NIE issued in 2004 and it was white.

They were still issueung green ones in Orihuela in 2007

My bank asked for it, I had to take it to bank so they could photocopy it. I think you have to do it every few years to keep their records up to date. They also do the same with your passport, we're non residents.
