Nitrogen gas for tyres

Nitrogen is used to reduce the risk of explosion where there is risk of a spark and potential ignition.Unlikely with ordinary car tyres I suspect.When discharging bulk liquids from a road or rail tanker into storage the usual means is with the use of compressed air.With an inflammable liquid it is likely that nitrogen gas would be used to push the liquid out.

Glassful,why on earth would you be putting Nitrogen in your everyday driver,I assume!!
Nitrogen is put in the tyres of racing cars or track day cars because the gas is more dense and so the tyre doesn’t distort so much when cornering at high speed,totally unnecessary for a normal road car.
If on the other hand you plan on drifting your car round the streets of Quesada or Rojales,please let us know in advance so we can all stay indoors

You cannot top up the tyre with air one filled with nitrogen, you would need to keep going back to a garage that has it


Also on a lighter note, so to speak, i just read nitrous oxide or laughing gas capsules are being banned in the UK, might also be the case in Spain soon
So just be careful where you park the car if you use nitrogen , you might find someone sucking on your tyre valve
