Doesn’t that depend where the parts come from ?

like you my partner and I, both U.K. pensioners, have lost a third of our pensions due to the poor exchange rates. Due to this decrease we think Spain has become expensive for many things, mainly food, clothes and utilities. Relatives visiting are finding the same and their main holidays are often spent outside Europe.Jonnno wrote:Well spotted Benjy. Yes I meant to say poor exchange rates due to Brexit have cost Brits in Spain, mainly pensioners, a fortune since Brexit was first mooted by Cameron.

When we came here we were getting 1.60. Now we are lucky to get 1.10. That has nothing to do with Brexit just the way the money market goes. Still today was a beautiful day with the sun so we don't complain and are really happy we have made this our home. Merry Xmas everyone.

Anyone thinks that today’s exchange rates have nothing to do with Brexit is living in a dream world. It has EVERYTHING to do with Brexit.

Nissan have already this week reduced work as sshortage of parts.. vauxhall not far behind... we may be better off with some things but worse off with alot more..... we do get alot of items of all things from EU. To think it will be ok post brexit is a blinkered way.. wto deals will have regs with them and countrys will see and know the UK will need to trade to survive so will have a upper hand in any discussions over new world trade deals. When we stopped making things in UK was a bad day... UK companies sent manufacturing abroad we lost the skills etc then now we may struggle..
After Brexit, Nissan for instance, would be free to close down it’s operations in EU countries and manufacture only in the UK, in Europe. It could then mount an attack on the UK market offering tariff free prices in competition with BMW, Mercedes, VW, Audi etc.etc., that will carry heavy tariffs when entering the UK. Interesting times.

Absolutely, and Elvis is appearing live at the Country Club, as the supporting act to Billy Fury. Not long to wait now to see what a pig's ear we are landed with.

Alternatively Nissan could shut the UK operations with 64 million tariff free customers and open up a European operation with 500 million tariff free customers.
