PCR test and Ferry travel from Santander

PCR test and Ferry travel from Santander

Postby ShaAde » Mon Aug 02, 2021 6:42 pm

Hi

Has anyone travelled back to UK on Santander ferry with a 72 hour PCR deadline on testing? If so how have you organised it? How were the results sent to you (by email)? Ours leaves on a Monday arriving on the Tuesday afternoon so we would need the test no earlier than 2pm on the Saturday. Can this work, can you get a test (if required) on a Saturday and get the results in time? Thanks in advance for all advice and info received.

Sounds like the same ferry I used, departs 5 pm Monday. I used El Raso chemist and took the test on Saturday morning, within the time limit 72 hours before travelling. However the chemist ask when was my departure date/time and said we will put Sundays date on the test. The test was emailed to me. The 72 hours is departure time not when you arrive in UK

We used the same sailing from Santander a few weeks ago. Firstly you DO NOT need a PCR test, Antigen test is accepted for entry to UK. And just as Lance says, your test must be carried out within 72 hours of DEPARTURE from Spain, your arrival time in UK is irrelevant. So if you are on the 17.30 sailing on Monday, you could have the test done anytime after 6pm Friday.

Test results are emailed to you, usually in less than 12 hours. You can print the results or just show them on your phone or tablet. And just as a footnote, tickets on Galicia include dinner and breakfast!

Have a safe and pleasant journey

Thank you for your replies Lance and Paul M, just a quick clarification, Are you both resident in Spain as I know the UK requirements can vary for UK residents and those who are not? :)

We had the same situation, booked antigen test at Sanysa clinic in almoradi for the saturday morning and results given while you wait, approx 10 mins. We booked randox pcr test day 2 only that afternoon to arrive at our home. We booked the tests separately so we had 2 codes to put on the locator forms. Both tests were waiting with a nieghbour on our return. They had been delivered by dpd and needed to be signed for so luckily our nieghbour was in. We duly did the tests and received the results in good time. Our antigen test and locator form were checked when we arrived at the port to check in. When we arrived in plymouth our passports were checked and we then were sent on our way. No custom checks on any vehicle that we saw and custom staff just monitoring us as we went past.
