Thank you so much for your reply which truly has bought tears to my eyes, I know others are worse off than me but today doesn't feel like it as partularly painful today. I am due to start physio tomorrow so maybe that will help. Thank you again

Thank you, here in Spain it's just a few months so I should count myself lucky, but I have to lose more weight, what I can't understand is if I had a fall and needed the hip done they would have to do it, also it's not only large people that has this problem slim people suffer with this too. Thank you for your input and best wishes to hubby hope his recovery is soon.

La Marina Lady, regarding losing weight, have you tried a high protein low carb diet, (fish eggs chicken/turkey cheese). I had a second knee replacement in March this year, and was told that losing weight would greatly help to ease any pain. I have lost 32Kgs since the middle of may, but so far haven't noticed a great difference, (hopefully as time goes on it should improve). If you do go down the high protein route, eat your meals off a side plate, greatly reduced portions and keep well hydrated. you should notice the weight coming off at a quicker rate. A handy tip when eating, instead of having three meals a day, opt for 4 or 5 side plate size portions to keep your metabolism active.

La Marina Lady, I also find that when the pain gets bad is to take one Cocodomol (30mg) tablet, and one Ibuprofen (400mg) two to three times a day. Cocodomol is a pain relief tablet, and the Ibuprofen is pain relief and anti inflammatory, both available from the Pharmacy up by the big eat cafe, I found them a real godsend.

In case you dont know, if you start taking Co codamol it's important to take a laxative each night before bed as they are well known to cause constipation. Most doctors when prescribing in the Uk will tell you this.
Co codamol are a very good painkiller but this is a well known side affect.
