What do members think is the best form of heating in terms of cost to install, cost to run and efficiency either a wood burner or pellet burner? TIA

We’ve just installed a wood burner and it’s absolutely fabulous, the heat is perfect, we also have an eco fan in the top. We paid €130 for a ton of logs and the wood burner was €340 from a company called Mano Mano, I know the pellet burners are good but I couldn’t justify spending the extra on something we’ll only use for a short period ..... it’s looks great tucked away in the corner.

€340 for a woodburner, how much for instalation, and the flue , Did you get a professional company to install it,or as that €340 fully inclusive?seems very good price, theres a lot to consider when buying a wood burner, the cheaper ones are pressed steel, its best to buy a cast iron one if you can afford it,if can cost €100 just for a set of fire brick liners for some stoves depending on the size of the stove,

Agree with ManoMano I've had a few things from them and found them very competitive for prices and great customer service

Hi I’ve a cast iron inset wood burner from Budget burgers previously we had for 10 years ago one from Ambifuego- but got ruined in decent floods. Like everything it’s personal preference - we also have full oil central heating system - Yep I hate the cold weather.
I would advise getting it correctly installed and situation on a proper plinth , also don’t forget your Carbon monoxide detector and trust you have smoke alarms.
I must admit I do go over the top sometime re safety as we also have fire blanket and extinguisher in kitchen.
Enjoy

If you have asthma or similar problems please check out the negative effects of burning logs before you buy..

I don't know if this is the one.

I have an open fireplace. Do I just buy this stove, stick it in the fireplace, light up and away it goes.

I suspect there's more to it.

Advice please.

I would get a professional in to install and advice, the chimney might not be suitable, you,ll need a blanking plate , a air inlet somewere in the same room , carbon monoxide alarm , were ever you buy the stove from will know
