Pressure washing front walls

Pressure washing front walls

Postby glen.monks » Fri Jun 11, 2021 2:28 pm

I wish to clean the walls with a pressure washer. Is there an issue with water getting on the roads?
TIA

Yes 250€ fine if you get caught.
I was doing my walkway just outside my front door and got stopped by the police.
Under no circumstances can you use a hose or pressure washer outside .
As it’s against the law for your water going on the streets

If this is the case, how come everywhere you drive around you see water running down the road. This appears to be from emptying, rinsing or backwashing swimming pools. Is this allowed and if not why’s nobody fined?

No its not allowed to empty pool water directly onto the street. It makes sense for it to go down a drain and recycled or whatever they do rather than just evaporate. Mind you my neighbour opposite does this but I don't mind as it clears the dog shit away.

Is it OK to use a pressure washer inside your own boundary with the water draining away in drains immediately outside your property please?

I went to town hall to obtain a licence for same issue, they were rather surprised by request and said not required, but when I mentioned a potential police fine ,they could see my point .
Planning phoned police for clarifying situation and told it was a fine if water went onto road as they passed. But if license given then all should be good .

Cost of license was approximately 70 euros (2019) . Keep on you and show if police approach for water on road , you then have permission from town hall

You have a drain outside your house? Lucky you, that's pretty rare

I would have thought pressure washing stains on outside walls would damage the paint work allowing rain to penetrate. I know the frequent sand storms discolour the paint work but there isn’t a great deal you can do about that only repaint the exterior.
