Price increases

Price increases

Had a bit of a shock today, Heinz baked beans were 65 in Lidl (noticed yesterday, price sign was missing) Mercadona 75, today 1.10 in Mercadona, that's a hefty increase. It must be all the extra charges getting British goods over and now it's showing.
A bottle of Butano gas 22.40, better get out on that rotunda!! My friend's electric bill for last month 480 euros! No she doesn't live in a castle.

Inflation is crazy across much of the world at the minute. Front of every newspaper.

Not really. Tesco here has them at 90 cents. Gama has been selling them at 60 cents for over a month but that was a promotion so gone up. Carrefour was also 65 cents but now up to 75 as well as Mercadona.
On the other hand, lamb shanks are now being sold in Mercadona and a pack of 2 nice ones for €3.35 offset the beans which we only buy very rarely.

Gas prices, yes, have gone rocketing up as has the price of all fuel and that's all over.
480 euro electric bill? Mine was €64.10 with Iberdrola 8 hour plan and that's using aircon for heating.

If the beans are too much, Aldi have a lovely Reserva red from La Mancha on offer at €1.85 so you could always drink your sorrows away.

I could do with 2 crates of that :) Minimum pricing was introduced in Ireland on 1st Jan so the cheapest vino is now over €6 a bottle. I had to lie down after being told electric prices for business customers have gone from 18cent to 46c per unit plus 13.5% VAT. No business can carry those increases without increasing thdir prices.

We've just bought a can of beans at Smartshop (in town) for 0.65 (on offer). I had to have a lie-down when we received our electric bill for December! Do you have an electric water heater Marcliff?

I shall stock up from Smartshop. Thanks for that. I've just finished off a bottle of Lambrusco from last night, only one flute full but still lovely and fizzy 1.69 a bottle.

Lucky you, dad's was something like 175 and he uses gas for hot water and cooking. Can only assume it's the Aircon that he's used occasionally.

We have everything on electric, water, heating, cooking and so on.
Do have one portable gas fire but we use it very occasionally and the one on at the moment is from last Winter which I also used on the BBQ in the Summer.

Last bills have been:
Dec €64.19
Nov €45.69
Oct €59.42
Sep €46.93

I get this message with each bill
For your peace of mind, in light of the news regarding electricity price rises, we would like to assure you that these increases do not affect the plan you have signed up to with Iberdrola Clientes.

I went down to the office but it was as if he didn't really want to help, just said what we were on was the best for us? End of story. I'll try and pop down to the other office and see if they're any better in helping.
