Quesada High Street

I know it will be a pain but personally I think it is long overdue. The restaurants are having terraces the size of Don Carlos apparently all the same which will be better for all in the future. All the pavements are being redone which currently are dangerous. I understood it was from the Banana tree to the square though. As for parking I would make everyone use the car parks and pay a few cents and leave what limited parking there will be to blue badge holders only. Lets hope it actually happens this time.

We went to a meeting in n the Town hall in October and Derek Monk and the Mayor was there . They explained that all the pavements are going to widened on both sides . The parking will be longways beside the pavement ( no more diagonal parking.) This will mean less parking but there is underground parking under both the Quesada Boulevard shop units. There are plans at the Town hall . Obviously the roads and pavements will need to be closed while the work is done but ultimately it can only be good. The pavements are death traps and driving along that high street is horrendous and dangerous the way people park everywhere. It can only improve the whole area.
Happy in the sun.

I think it will be tough.. but starting in January before the season starts seems like a good idea... and widening the pavements has to be better than the obstacle course we have now...

Parking cars nose to tail will also be good, no more reversing out onto a busy road, and cars will be able to go down the street more safely--- and I believe they are making free parking available in the underground parks, that should help out too

Good on Rojales Town Hall... it will have to be done someday and actually doing it in winter instead of summer is a surprise to me.. :text-lol:

Thanks everybody. That's more or less what I heard. Can't think of waste ground near tennis courts but I'm sure it will be obvious. Any opening plans for the new shopping centre? I know before Xmas some units were already let. Will it be free parking I wonder.
We are due out end of Jan. and looks like work will have started!

The main worry for me personally is that both my banks, Sabadell and Santander are down that stretch.

There is a Sabadell branch down near the La Laguna hotel with parking very near if you choose your time to go.

I was told by a Councillor about 3 years ago when I went to complain about lack of parking in the town especially in the summer is that
they do not own any of the spare land. I understand that they tried to purchase the land just up from Gama supermarket but it is privately owned and the owner would not sell. The council then asked him to fence off his land which resulted in Simply Doors having to move as they could not get their goods into the shop. The problems are not all down to the council.

Apparently the shopkeepers etc. in the area of the Quesada High Street were notified about ten days ago by the Administration at the Rojales Town Hall (at a meeting to update traders, etc) of the imminent changes to be made in and around the High Street. A temporary car park is to be established next to the Tennis Courts and that work will start around 16 January. New restrictions will be posted locally on which directions the traffic will be able to use. There will not only be a new road surface but the pavements will be widened on both sides and better facilities will be installed for wheelchairs etc. The road will be closed until June or July, depending on the speed of work being carried out. It will have some affect on all who use the High Street but it is desperately needed and won't we all be proud of it when it is completed !!! It certainly will make all those who want to use the facilities the area has to offer arrive there much earlier, or its going to be a long walk otherwise. I should think this information will be much clearer when the Press start to write about it, maybe this week.....

Ok for those who can walk. There are many older people and people with disabled stickers. Is it a case of i'm alright jack and we struggle to get parking everytime even on side streets. What about people who work there or volunteer in the charity shops !!!

For god's sake stop bloody moaning! The main Street is a disaster waiting to happen with the traffic and pavements. I'm sure the council will take into account the disabled aspect both on and off road. Try and see the bright side for once!

Correct, it definitely needs doing. You may also be interested to know that, some years ago, the roads were due to be done but it was explained that the main street in Quesada is not a municipal road but is maintained by the regional government (CV). They have been waiting for the Valencia region to make repairs and improvements to that road which has now, I would assume, have agreed the funding.
The council also approached the owners of land where Mas y Mas is now being built, the owners of the land opposite Don De and the land behind Avda Naciones (where the chap has put his skips on) but they wouldn't sell the land. Obviously the owners got a better deal from Mas y Mas and the others (maybe the same bloke?) are expecting other buyers to come forward.
