I guess that would be Avenida de las Naciones to anyone who did not know ;) I think they are going to change the name for the Brits!

Locals often give nicknames to locations.

How often have we seen Torrevieja abbreviated to Torre?

New York, The Big Apple.
Birmingham, Brum
Chichester, Chi
City of London, the square mile
London’s theatre and shopping district, the west End

So I suppose, ‘the High Street’ works

I'm sure it it works because Avda Las Naciones is a long road and the High Street or main street or town centre, whatever we choose to call it, is only part of that road. So should we say "Avda Las Naciones, the bit where all the shops and restaurants are but not the bit known as where Clapton's bar used to be"..maybe not LOL.. high street is a bit easier.
I wonder what the Spanish call it centro de la ciudad Quesada.... maybe.

I know lots of you have been here for years and have a wealth of knowledge about the area and have seen many changes, but when I read it’s where such and such bar was is very confusing, as I, like lots of newbies, only know the present names of bars not what they used to be called.

Point taken, sorry.

Will try to only say the present bars and restaurants names in future, when describing areas. The area mentioned above is whereDa Silva's Restaurant & Bar and La Taberna and a few other cafes and bars are but it's not in the high street (although it's still called Avda de Las Naciones). Confusing I know - Its taken me 13 years to get my head round the different areas and what they are called.

To be fair it's hard to keep up with the name changes sometimes.

Yes that's true. Some places get known by the bar/restaurant that lasted longest there - Like Claptons bar area and also Lo Marabu bar area(now Edina's bar) :? But it's understandable that newer people to Quesada would be confused by that.

The main shops in Quesada on Avenida De Las Naciones are called the first commercial area and where Claptons bar used to be . Is called second commercial.

Will there be access to the underground car parks whilst the work is being done?

I went into Quesada centre this morning fully expecting the main high street to be closed off. Especially after all the comments on this website about it being closed off from mid January for 6 months. I was therefore rather surprised that the whole of the street was open to traffic. Apparently the whole project has been delayed but nobody has mentioned it here.

Sorry but you are wrong there. It is common knowledge that the works may be (probably are) delayed. It has been mentioned on this & other forums that if they are not able to complete before summer the works will be delayed till next autumn at least.
Regards,
Dave.
