Quesada Main Street changes
Quesada Main Street changes
by Lindylou » Mon Jan 06, 2020 10:32 pm
Hi all
We have a holiday home in Quesada, so not there all the time.
Just wondered what the latest is regarding the changes to the Main Street from the Arches up to Calle Azul. I hear there is going to be a roundabout at Calle Azul. But does anyone know of more details about what is planned?

Well it is reported as starting today but there are no posts up about restricting parking. Someone posted the details a few weeks ago of the actual plans so if you search on forum you will see it.

Important information for people in the Quesada area from Town Hall in Rojales. I am sure that many people will be delighted that this work will finally.be put in place.
Here is a summary of the plans for the Avenida de las Naciones project under the management of the Diputación de Alicante.
The works are due to commence on January the 7th, 8th or 9th 2020 and planned to be completed by May.
The project will affect the main entrance to Ciudad Quesada from the arches to the junction of Avenida Costa azul and calle Blanca where a new roundabout is planned.
The road will be divided in two parts with work commencing on one half, with the other half for one way traffic, travelling from the junction of avenida Costa Azul to the arches. When one half is completed, work will start on the other half to allow traffic to pass on the new part, again one way going to the arches. Cars wishing to enter in the opposite direction from the roundabout, will be diverted right or left, depending on the part of the urbanisation you wish to access.
During the project, cars may park on a plot in calle Sola next to the commercial units, currently being prepared, and a larger area is also currently being prepared by the tennis courts in avenida Costa Azul. If you wish, the underground car park beneath the commercial units on Avenida de las Naciones will be open until quite late, and free of charge until the project is completed..
We ask for your patience and understanding during the works which should result in a much improved end product.
All the trees and advertisement columns will be removed. The pavement on the side of the avenue occupied by Orenes, Don Carlos, etc, will be substancially widened as a pedestrian area. Cars will not be allowed to park on this side once the project is finished. Cars will be able to park in single file on the opposite side, therefore one side only in the direction of the arches to the new roundabout. This will facilitate a smoother flow of traffic and a general improvement all round.
Once the project is finished, we will be able to identify where improvements can be made in parking and traffic flow, should this be necessary.

Why is there so much negativity? Surely we don't need to dwell on past failures ALL the time! Look to the future.

With age comes cynicism....this forum needs more younger people who can feel positive and look to the future.
