Question about roundabouts

The cars in the right hand lane always have priorty. So if you cut in front of a car in the rh lane to leave the roundabout then any collision would be your fault. (even if the numpty is driving all the way round the roundabout in the right hand lane)[/quote]

The numpty in the right hand lane all the way round the roundabout showing left indicator is actually quite correct. His manoevre requires no lane changes on the roundabout.

Mea culpa however in my defence it was just fat fingers whereas 90% of the time we see posters using 'duel' when they mean dual.

If you are coming off a roundabout on a dual carriageway and want to go straight across into another dual carriageway or turn left, then in my opinion using the left hand lane is quite acceptable because again you are not changing lanes.

But of course if you are going straight across in the left lane , as many, many people do here regardless of the Highway Code, then you have to be fully aware of anyone on your right side and if in doubt as to what his intention is, hold back in case he comes across in front of you.

If as it is stated, that the only correct lane entering and exiting a roundabout is the right hand lane and everybody observes this rule, then queues entering roundabouts would be miles long, but the fact that with judicial care and attention, both lanes cans be used making for shorter queues.

Whatever the rights and wrongs, rules and regulations, that's how most people drive here.

Dammed I knew I was doing something wrong, everyone’s going round the roundabout from the right, I'm going from the left! Arghhhhhh…
