Refuse Collection - The Honeymoon is over

Refuse Collection - The Honeymoon is over

Postby Glassfull » Tue Aug 13, 2019 10:42 am

Good Morning.

I have a complaint about the refuse collection in Dona Pep. I’ve sent he from following in a Messenger message to the Town Hall.

There are two bins and I shall call them Bin A and, Bin B

There are no refuse collection on Sundays .

Both bins were full to overflowing overnight 11/08-12/08.

At about 12:00 on Monday 12/08 the refuse truck arrived, but only Bin B was emptied into the truck.

The excess rubbish from Bin A was manually dumped into Bin B.

This meant that when the refuse collectors left.

Both bins were already half full.

This morning, at around 11:00, the refuse truck arrived and the same thing happened once again.

Only Bin B was emptied into the truck.

The excess rubbish from Bin A was manually dumped into Bin B.

Again, this meant that when the refuse collectors left.

Both bins were already half full.

The result is that the contents, at the bottom of Bin A, have been festering in there since Saturday.

We were asked to be patient when contracts were swapped to a new company but, even this company appears to be taking short cuts in their operations.

Leaving us, the local tax payer, sitting amongst stinking rubbish.

Please ensure we receive daily FULL collections?

I can´t believe that people voted to elect, again, a council that was failing badly.
All the public infrastructure around Quesada and Rojales is going downhill.
The electorate has been mugged by these councillors.

Sadly so true and the text number for the council no longer appears to be working probably overloaded!

I agree, the refuse service has become appalling. Also, our bin is in pieces and has fell apart. I have placed Gaffa tape around it to keep it together, other people have placed string. It has been like this for months. Does anyone know who we should contact to get the bin replaced?

Our bit of Dona Pepa has been tidied and cleaned. The bins have been emptied (regularly) and the old, broken bins removed and new ones put in their place. The area has also been brushed and hosed down.
Further along on the junction of C/Huelva and C/San Sebastian (where the recycling bins are) the truck was there about 1200 emptying the recycling bins and the rubbish bins. Behind it was another big truck with several new bins on the back. Maybe they are getting around to it although some of the broken ones further up towards the medical centre haven't been replaced yet.
Big area, big problem. Getting back to emptying them all regularly would be a big help.

I phoned the number given to tell them I had an old mattress and a chopped up wall unit to be collected.
They told me to leave it by the bins on the corner of C/Huelva and C/Pamplona last Wednesday and they would be picked up on Thursday morning. They were actually collected yesterday. Seems like that's the area they want stuff offloaded so could explain why there is so much there.

Marcliff, would you share that telephone number? Also, is it the Council’s number or, the refuse company? Finally, do they speak English.

965 306 807. I think it's the ayuntamiento. I was told the number had changed since the change of contractors but this one was answered.
I requested the collection in Spanish but the lady did say thank you for your call in English at the end of it.
The stickers on the bins (which all appear to have fallen off) are (were) in Spanish and English.

I've just phoned that number again and asked about the change of phone number. The lady says she still answers the phone but redirects them and will do so until the end of this month.
However, the new number for any problems with rubbish collection or to arrange collection of large items is 689 600 184. Apparently it changed on July 1st.
She said that puts you in direct contact with the collection service.

Meanwhile, here on the Torettas, the bins get emptied every other day, the glass recycle bins every day, and the van with the jet washer does the bins out once a month.
