Removing orange top from butane bottles

Removing orange top from butane bottles

Postby Martin the artist » Mon Oct 03, 2022 12:54 pm

Anyone got any tips about removing the cap from a new Cepsa bottle?
I usually use a screwdriver, but really struggled with it yesterday when I needed to change my cylinder mid-shower...
TIA

If you get a pair of pliers there is a small circle of plastic below the orange cap, grip this and pull up, it tears away around
I sometimes manage to do it with my fingers alone but sometimes i need the pliers or i use one of my keys on the keyring to help , failing that, the screwdriver

When I read the post out to my husband he said there is a kind of perforated line by that pulley bit, when he stuck the knife up it it came undone easily but you shouldn't really have to use a knife or screwdriver, they never used to be as hard

Sorry but I don't understand the problem, I 'uncorked' a bottle just this morning, no tools required.

I'm no he-man and even my wife has done it a few times.

We've always been OK and I too have done it but not today.

OK

Use a stanley knife and, slice from the bottom upwards to the top, it then slides off very easy.
