They will also require to see your funds in your Spanish bank too... think per person €9k
The €9k needs to have been in your Spanish bank account for at least 3 months.
I don’t think this is correct and certainly wasn’t the case when I got residency 5 yrs ago. I think it said you needed to show sufficient funds so that you wouldn’t be a burden on thr Spanish state
Hi it is correct I have just begun my application for residency, I cannot actually submit it until €9000 have been in the bank for three months at which point I can then get a stamped certificate from the bank to certify that I am who I am and the money has been there for three months. I also have to be paying into Convenio Especial Healthcare or private health insurance.

Our friends are currently in the process of submitting applications for first-time residency and their gestor, Uma of www.GetLegalinSpain.com advised 2 weeks ago that the financial requirements for first-time applicants have been reduced to Eu 5,500 lump sum or Eu 500 per month, per person, in a Spanish bank account for a minimum of 3 months. Whilst this is good news, the big problem at the moment is that there are no first-time application (EX-20) appointments currently available. Uma advised she has been told that more appointments should be available in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the update that's good news about the amount in the bank being reduced

UPDATE:
Just been to sort Convenio Especial Health Care in readiness for TIE application and was informed the amount of € 9,000 is the same (not been reduced)but it can now be in any countries bank account AND the requirement for it to be in the bank for 3 months no longer applies, this has just been changed in the last few days.

Unless they've recently changed the system, you can't get Convenio Especial until you have been a resident for a minimum of one year.
People registered in a municipality of the Valencian Community who do not have the status of insured or beneficiaries of the National Health System, or have access to a public health protection system by any other title, and who prove effective residence in Spain for a minimum continuous period of one year immediately prior to the date of the application for the special agreement.
So you can't apply for initial residency using the Convenio Especial but must have health insurance either provided by a private company or the state by means of the S1.
Procedures on claiming are at this link.Convenio Especial Valencia Region.
And if you're applying to change a current registro card for a TIE you don't need to show income or healthcare.

It's needed to apply for first time TIE solicitor sent application off today, health care has to be in place and being paid for before they can start my application for residency:) it's only for Spanish health care, the Convenio especial covers lots of things but in this case it's only health cover

Marcliff, just a quickie please. On the 790 form do you have to sign them? I paid my 12 euros yesterday and didn't sign them, the lawyer who checked my form didn't mention it and neither did the bank. Thank you, Chris x

There's no space on the 790 for signing it. Simply for the location and the date.
