Return to UK Day 2 test - Our experience

Postby ajf1950 » Mon Aug 02, 2021 4:11 pm

Hi All,

We travelled back to the uk on Saturday 31/07/21. I booked our Day 2 PCR test about a week before our departure date. I used Randox Health cost on website is £48 each however if you use voucher code “flyryanair” at check out you get £5 discount. (Worth trying even if you are not flying with Ryanair)

Randox send the test packs by DPD. I got a notification from DPD advising a day & time slot they would be delivered. We were still in Spain so I asked a uk neighbour to look out for the delivery. They were delivered 3 days before our return.

The test pack contains full easy to follow instructions on how to; do the test, register you have done it ,( you will need your NHS reference number, Randox booking reference, passport number ) pack it up, and return it using a Randox Drop Box.

The Randox website will show you the nearest drop box location to your home address.
It can be at their premises around the uk or they have teamed up with Roadchef and you can drop off at various service areas around the uk.

We did the test Sunday morning 1st August. I used a Roadchef drop box and dropped them off 13.00 Sunday. I got an email confirmation of their receipt in their laboratory at 04.00 on Monday 2nd August then at 16.00 on Monday 2nd August I got email confirmation of negative results.

So time to get on with life until our next trip to Quesada hopefully end of September. Then it all begins again or hopefully not if travel restrictions are eased by then. Hope this info is of interest and some help.
NB: This is not an advert or recommendation for Randox purely reporting our personal experience.

Yeah and nobody asks to see the results? Why can’t you use the free ones the government give out?

Lockey57: They ask to see your pre departure negative test certificate before they allow you to board the plane at Alicante airport. If you have a positive PCR test on day 2 your details are passed to UK Gov Track n Trace to check up on you for 10 days.
I agree why can’t you use the free lateral flow tests and if it is negative get on with your life, if it’s positive go for a free PCR NHS test at a local test centre. Think this might be coming - watch this space.
