I look forward to being overtaken by all the vuelta cyclists whilst simultaneously producing more pollution by having to thrash my car in a higher rev range.

Surely the limits apply to cyclists, and joggers, as well. I know cyclists are notorious for not obeying the rules of the road but if they're using it they must be subject to the same speed limits??

I was thinking more about the guy who said the limit on a road in Benidorm was 10kph. Serious joggers can go that speed

Just back from shopping. Tried to keep within the new limits; caused traffic jam with plenty of tooting & "hand signals" aimed my way, also overtaken by a pack of "lycra louts" with accompanying hand signals!

It’s very difficult driving at theses speeds,
Especially when cyclists overtake you.
What a laugh

Unnecessary speeds can cause accidents and if metal comes in contact with a person, the higher the speed the probability is for a bigger injury. But common sense would be to have had lower speeds within built up areas, with a downgrade of speed limits. When driving on urban roads stick to current limits. The new speed limits do more damage to the environment by higher revving engines spewing out higher emissions. Whilst many countries are signing up to a reduction in CO2 emissions Spain is causing a higher amount due to lower speed limits. Most modern cars have higher gear ratios so whilst trying to maintain lower speed limits a lower gear needs to be engaged to prevent engine labouring, therefore higher revs. causing higher CO2 emissions.

Different vehicles are more fuel efficient depending on various factors such as torque, revs and gear ratios.
The sfc (specific fuel consumption ) curve is a graph the manufacturer would provide to demonstrate the more economic range of the engine.Driving slowly in a high gear isn't necessarily it.
