I'd say no but who knows, probably cost more to fight it than paying the fine

It is growing trend, France reduced their speed limits a few years ago.
If saved lives.
Excuses like I cannot drive at that speed and cannot get out of second gear, the signs not being correct don't wash.
You chose to live in Spain, France, Ireland or England, then it is your DUTY to obey the laws.
Remember as in UK - Ignorance is no Excuse so not as titled - Ridiculous Speed restrictions - Sensible Speed restrictions
And if you do not believe that today then if you or one of yours is hurt or killed by someone not obeying the new speed limits you will then consider the speed limits them sensible, and you will blame the speeding motorist to blame.

As we drive a little further a car parked on the slip road by that little house, one person in it. Radar gun perhaps?
They have been sitting there for months and have captured quite a few cars they are there at least 2-3 times a week sometimes early mornings, getting those going to work to torre, also midto late afternoons, always the same radar gun in car and stopping the offended at the roundabout this was before the new speed restrictions came into play
There has ben no change on the speed limit on that stretch of road for many years and if you are a regular user you should be very aware that the Traffico have always had a Radar trap there on a regular basis indeed they have caught many other offenders there drug running and other offences so keeping Spain safe it is what they are paid to do and I for one fully support them

My previous car had cruise control. You set it to go a certain speed, normally the speed limit, and away you go. In order to accelerate, you had to lift your foot off the floor and press the pedal. It was a conscious decision.
Unfortunately, my current car doesn't have cruise control. When someone is stuck up your arse, your unconscious reaction, because your foot is resting on the pedal, is to accelerate slightly to get away from them. This leads you to going faster than you intended and breaking the often ridiculously low speed limit.
Another bug bear for me, is that most of the modern roads were engineered to be driven at a far higher speed than the current limits.
Big problem here in Ireland is the often totally inappropriate 18mph speed limit on an empty dual carriageway or where you're coming off a motorway. I kid you not.
I can see the Guarda Civil and the Spanish Government using speeding fines as a very handy source of additional revenue, in these post pandemic times.

Personally, i agree with some reduced speeds in some areas. An example would be in many of the streets in Torrevieja city centre where there is just a wall of cars either side of you in a one way street, making it hard to see, let alone stop in time if someone jumped out in front of you.
On the other hand, it's the 50 limit on other roads such as the dual carriageway going from San Luis to Carrefour which i and many other find ridiculous.
And i do not expect the Vuelta gang to adhere to the speed limits nor get fines. They think the road belongs to them and the are exempt from any retribution.
And i tend to agree with the poster above that this will be some sort of cash cow.

Methinks electric vehicles will not struggle with the lower speed limits from a mechanical or co2 point of view..
Its the way forward!
Also wonder why in these technological days when satnavs give spoedlimits ,that they cannot keep you within the required limits unless you overide them ..

Yes I agree, I used to find that it was very difficult to drive within very low speed limits. Here in my part of the UK many drivers seem convinced that speed limits just don't apply to them. Many of them drive BMW's. I've never quite understood what happens to a perfectly normal person once they get behind the wheel of a BMW !

I asked a genuine question about speed signs I wasn’t looking for an excuse, so please don’t jump to that conclusion

ooooh here we come with the generalisations, bigoted views and self-righteous ponderings. Wouldn't be a TQ thread without the benefit of these.

My comment were based on reading the thread, not on anything you put on in particular, so no offence meant.
