Road Tax

Road Tax

Can someone clarify .
When you change cars here in Spain does the Direct Debit that was in place on your old car automatically transfer to your new car that was transferred to you at the point of sale.
I have had two differing explanations, The first is that it does automatically transfer and the second you have to go to your local Suma and set it up again. Does anyone on here know for certain which is correct.

When I changed car it was automatic for me, but that was presumably because the dealership did all the necessary paperwork. It's easiest just to call in to the Suma office and ask them what car records they hold for you.

Thanks for your advice Update.,Today went to Suma and set up Direct Debit for my road tax that will be took out on May3rd. Asked the lady the question on here ,Whether my Spanish failed ,the result was a shake of the head, so the question was left unanswered.
I just put your link in with car reg and NIE and the answer was this.
No existen recibos en periodo de pago voluntario para el número fijo indicado, which translates to There are no receipts in the voluntary payment period for the fixed number indicated .

They try to be helpful at the suma office, but I got billed suma charges for 2 houses despite telling them, physically at the office, in Spanish, in December, that I had sold one of the properties 8 months prior.

I went back in February/march as I got the notice of charge and it was still including the 2 properties, and again in June when they took payment for 2 properties.

The result was I had to go to the bank to reclaim the money. So I cancelled every direct debit at the bank with the suma office, and I’ll set it back Up again when they demand it
