Rojales Bridge Works

If you read/translate the article, it seems the work should have been finished by the 22nd April, but the mayor has had to reluctantly agree an extension to June.

I have just received a message, via Facebook, from the town hall that states, simply, don’t believe all you read in the papers and that the bridge will be open shortly

There has been so many allegations of blame etc., that the mayor will be holding a special press conference tomorrow if anyone wishes to attend.

The latest news is that he town has terminated the contract...
They will now seek to open the bridge temporarily by the end of May and then complete the work by by mid-July

So, I presume they will now have to call tenders for the completion of the works
I wonder if there will be a road surface for the temporary opening as there’s a 100mm drop from the old road to the new surface outside El Paseo and the other side too

The contractors say that Rojales were asking for a special expensive type of granite block which only came from one place in Extramadura and was out of stock; and the suppliers wanted full payment in advance which the contractors couldn't afford.
Obviously the town is saying 'you took the contract & you haven't completed!' - the contractors should have allowed sufficient contingency!
So I expect they'll put down a temporary tarmac finish and then fix the granite blocks later.
