Hi, Jonjo the point I am making is that you do not have to sit on the blower all day, it can and is done online.

How to get an S1 form.

If you have a UK State Pension, you must request an application form by phone from the Overseas Healthcare Services. This is part of the NHS Business Services Authority (BSA).

Dear Andrew,

Thanks for your email.

Please can you confirm whether you receive a state pension from any other EU/EEA countries as you have only confirmed you don't get one from Spain.

An application for an S1 can only be made up to four weeks before the person has moved to another country, I will therefore process your application on Monday as it will then be within four weeks of you moving.

Kind regards

Jennifer

'Online' implies that you filled in a form on a website, what you describe is by email which is something else altogether.

Thank you for clarifying your above incorrect and misleading statement.

Furthermore

Having now established that it CANNOT be done online and speaking as someone who in some 13 years of living outside of the UK have had cause to apply for S1's on about eight separate occasions - and that's excluding S1's for my wife before she reached pensionable age and became entitled to her own - I think I can speak with some authority when I say that it is not necessary to "sit on the blower all day" and the use of such hyperbole serves only to weaken an argument not strengthen it!

Each and every one of those applications were made by phone and dealt with promptly and efficiently and I should add with the not inconsiderable advantage of knowing that the job had been done instead of having to wait and wonder not only if an email would be read in a timely manner but also respond to similarly.

Oh and BTW, you can still enjoy the sun by making the call from the comfort of a sunlounger.

A N Other, do you have hearing difficulties that make doing stuff by phone very difficult. That was the scenario, not the general level of service.

But it seems to be the only UK government department not doing on line services.

No my hearing is fine thank you.

Your post was a complaint without a question and it wasn't me who took the topic off piste with misleading info, all I've tried to do is correct that.
