Hello Forum
Has anyone been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea recently here in Spain, did you go to your doctor and get referred to a clinic or did you go direct to a sleep apnea clinic and if so where is it. Many thanks for your help.

I was sent to Orihuela and now have a machine and have to go back for regular check ups with the machine as it stores all your data and they might adjust the flow.
They may take our lives but they will never take our FREEDOM

Wait a minute its not the clinics but my Doctor who sent me to be diagnosed at Orihuela and I owe them my life.
I had to wear a special piece of equipment for 48 hours which took readings during the time that I was asleep. When I went back to the special Doctor who looked at the results they were bad as during the time I was asleep I stopped breathing at various times during the night.
At this point I knew sometime was wrong so I was given a machine to keep me with oxygen while sleeping.
So please get checked out asap as it scares the life out of your partner who hears that you have stopped breathing but you don't know until they try and wake you up.

Can you please state your qualifications to be handing out potentially life threatening 'advice'?Philipb1407 wrote:Be careful, there’s a push for people to be diagnosed for sleep apnoea to get sleep clinics up and running. Many people suffering non related medical issues are being diagnosed wrongly.
Arthritis during sleep when readjusting for comfort give similar readings
Slipped disc or spinal degrading through age does too
Simple muscle stiffness can give similar readings.
AF sufferers are being targeted.
The main thing that sleep clinics look for is stopping breathing, snoring, daytime tiredness, heart rhythm abnormalities.
But be aware.
Hit your thumb with a hammer, the first thing you do is hold your breath, any small pain causes you to hold your breath, while in bed it’s more comfortable with spine issues to sleep on your back, this promotes snoring.
Those with AF can find their sleep is disturbed with heart flutter, disturbed sleep can make you tired through the day. Being uncomfortable in bed and readjusting can cause unnoticed pajn.
Before being pushed into a sleep clinic, try all the other remedies first.
1 take 1000mg of pain killer paracetamol 1 hour before bed.
2 take 2 teaspoons of honey before bed. Honey has a great healing power.
3 warm your bed with a electric blanket before getting into bed.
4 try to stay on your side while sleeping.
5 try to have a sleep 1/2 way between awakening and going to sleep at night and keep it to a max 30 minutes.but only if you are getting tired during the day.
6 if overweight try to lose some
7 try to walk 5000 steps each day or more
8 don’t drink alcohol for at least 4 hours before bed time.
9 always take prescribed meds on time, don’t miss any
10. Ask if you can try a 5.0 mg Prednisione 1 per day for 14 days. every 4 months if you have bone or muscle pain, it’s great for Arthritis or other muscle aches and pains
If all this fails. Then well maybe you have a sleep apnoea issue, but you can lose your driving licence or your vehicle insurance can be null and void.
So be aware.

Exactly my thoughts. Do you have medical qualifications, Philip? It's always good to know this when reading medical advice.
