As the authorities were involved did they have to move them?
I really feel for you. Thank you so much for sharing your experience, think I'm in for the long haul.
My neighbour is putting them on a 45° angle as well.

They have been told that they have to re position them at an angle. It still won't get away from the fact that they are damn ugly and that they won't have to look at them. They still can't see what the problem is. They refused to come around and see what we have to look at. It's the it's my house, I'll do what I want attitude that annoys me.
They also have another 5 panels on the front which is more than enough for their needs, but want more to be able to sell onto the electric company !.

So selfish and inconsiderate. I'm dreading how this is all going to go with my situation, even more so now after hearing your experience.
Can't believe these people can agree how unsightly these panels are, but are happy to install them as long as it doesn't interfere with their view and they can't see them.
Interesting you mentioned selling to the electric company as my neighbour has said it will cost him a lot of money to install the panels, and he is happy to pay it as he will get money back from Iberdrola.

People on my community want them for our pool but looks like the proposal will fail. As has been pointed out, a pool cover becomes essential or you lose more than you gain and for a domestic pool will cost 3 or 4k.
But the bigger problem is who is going to put it on and take it off? Even the automatic type are difficult. Then you need to clean leaves etc off the cover as well. Perhaps a heat pump would be better

In the UK we have solar panels on our roof. We are limited to 14 panels or we need planning permission. Max output for 14 panels is around 4kWh, this max is difficult to achieve in the UK but with wall to wall sunshine in Spain should be easily achievable. Whilst that's enough to heat a domestic hot water tank, it's nowhere near enough to heat the volume of water in a pool to usable levels. But, if you are heating the pool anyway, using free electricity from solar will reduce your electricity bill, but I'm glad it's not my electricity bill. I think I could find better things to spend my money on.

I took it from the OP that ( his latest idea is 20 (rather large) solar panels running along the top wall ) meant he was installing an agua caliente system, because those type of heating panels are very big and ugly. But obviously it now turns out he is going to use photovoltaic panels, there may be a cut off point in the amount of panels you install, which determines whether it is classed as a domestic or an industrial installation, might be worth checking out.

I thought it was an aqua caliente system as well when the neighbour was telling us about the pool issue, cost of heating the pool and where he was going to position these enormous panels.

He is choosing to ignore us now and he is, at this moment, measuring up and looking for where south is with various gadgets, not sure what company is doing this as even though there is ample parking space outside they have chosen to park round the corner, very odd.

We asked if we could explain to the company/installers our concerns, and was going to show Paul Figg's photos but was refused.
Interesting times ahead I think

Have found out panels he's looking at in the first instance are 2m x 1m (I suppose this could change), so not sure what system this would be.

A few ideas, for what its worth...

Install a heap pump to heat the pool.
We have done this and I was swimming up to early Dec at 21 degrees..!

Cost of power is not too expensive, but thats a relative thing.
To offset the power cost, suggest install a number of PV panels.
using a heat piump is a kore effective and efficient way to heat the pool, so fewer panels needed.

if he's heating pool through the summer & winter it will quickly grow algae and need a higher level of maintenance and consumables to keep the water ok for swimming.
keeping it covered keeps the heat in, but sunlight helps control the algae growth ... so its a daily chore to cover and un-cover, when you are heating the pool/ swimming.

No idea on what objections you might have for location of such panels though..

regards
