Spain announce new restrictions for UK arrivals
Spain announce new restrictions for UK arrivals

The Minister for Interior has announced that only fully vaccinated travellers from UK will be permitted entry from 1st December. PCR tests or proof of having had Covid will not be accepted. This order is in place until 31st December.

I have put this in the Daily Update. I am sure it is going to be very disappointing news for those with ans to travel over the coming weeks.

Nit a suprise really. Very few can present an excuse for not being double jabbed in the UK. Its available to everyone over 12, so if they can't travel well its their own fault.

Unless there’s a medical reason why they cannot be vaccinated

I was wondering about that too. I don't see any exceptions in the Boletín. When is the UK implementing the day 2 PCR test and isolation until you get your positive test for all internatonal Arrivals? Did it take effect from yesterday? That is going to mean no short visits will be possible. They are going to be relying on people's honesty to isolate until they get the result. We know from posts on this forum that some tests disappear into black holes.

This is the latest UK Government advice for travel to England, it is on the website now and doesn’t seem to mention a commencement date.
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-to-e ... s-covid-19
The problem has been some of the test providers are notorious for not sending results back so those returning are forced to isolate until they get a result from another provider and pay the extra cost of course.
Mask wearing on public transport and shops mandatory but this might not apply to Boris who has his own set of rules. As many on here who have been back to the UK have commented the general attitude in the UK is very lax compared to Spain. People are only following the example of our glorious leader!

For the record,
My 15 year old son was only able to get his FIRST dose of the vaccine on 1st NOVEMBER 2021
This was the first opportunity offered to him by his school.
This means that (assuming 5 months is the absolute earliest he can get his 2nd jab) he will not be eligible to receive that jab unto APRIL 2022.
So his inability travel to see me for the 2nd year running is most definitely not his fault.

MichaelC - This is a bit disingenuous to my girlifriend's 12 yr old son who got his one and only vaccine 5 weeks ago but won't be offered a 2nd one. This means that we have done everything to get all of our jabs but looks like we won't get there for the New Year now....not his fault is it?
NHS Scotland (https://www.nhsinform.scot/covid-19-vaccine/the-vaccines/vaccinating-children-and-young-people-aged-12-to-17-years/)
How many doses will children and young people aged 12 to 15 years be offered?
Two doses of the vaccine (eight weeks apart) are recommended for:- those who are at increased risk from coronavirus due to underlying health conditions
- those who live with someone who is immunosuppressed

Whilst I agree it’s heartbreaking for those 12-16 year olds in the U.K. who are only being offered one jab not to be able to travel. But it’s Spain making the rules and the Spanish 12-16 year old are double jabbed.
There have been other huge differences between the two counties, since travel resumed, mainly the U.K. not accepting that that the EU Covid cert has the same value as the NHS cert. Even until this last set of regulations If an EU cert holder got pinged they have to isolate for 10 days, but a NHS cert holder can take a test and not have to isolate.
If people want to travel, they have to be prepared that the country they are flying into has restrictions that could change at a moments notice and disrupt plans.
In the last 72 hours we have seen a new variant arrive and almost every country has imposed further restrictions. Cases in the EU, in England and even Australia and the barriers have been built again. Unfortunately we’ve all seen how quickly 2 cases turn into 2000 cases and as some countries are monitoring restrictions every 7 days, things aren’t looking good for the next couple of weeks.
I just hope I’m proved wrong with that last statement.

As disappointing as it may it's too often forgotten that the Covid situation can change virtually overnight - as it has - making booking holidays still a gamble.
Spain has worked hard to get where it is and I'm afraid defending that position has to take precedence over the hopes and desires of visitors.
