The infection numbers are still rising but at a slower rate. Over the 48 hours weds to thurs, there were 8578 new cases identified on Wednesday & 7871 on Thursday, that is 707 less new cases in a 24hr period, hope this makes sense!!

Have a look at https://www.worldometers.info/coronavir ... try/spain/

You can also look at all other countries.

Interesting to compare elchedave. Where are your figures from?

I follow it on worldometer.info which shows the following figures for new cases on these dates

Wednesday 7457 and Thurs8271 each about 1000 different to what you see. Interesting!

Hi Ron, i get my figures from the N332 site, their figures come from the Spanish Goverment page Secretaria General de Sanidad.
Interestingly your figures are also the opposite way around, showing an increase of 814 over the 24hr period rather than a reduction.

Hard to interpret any of the figures on infection rates. Actual infections will be much higher than these numbers as in many countries the numbers only seem to reflect those ill enough to be tested and/ or admitted to hospital. And it seems you have to be literally pushing death's door to be admitted to hospital...

Two of my family members in UK have now had it ( both in London) one quite badly, it was pretty nasty ( and he is also classed as ' vulnerable' - male in his 6Os with history of heart problems) but not "badly enough" for him to be formally tested. Luckily he has pulled through. The other was a young and hale member of family and it wasn't too bad, she was only floored for a few days . Also not a priority for testing and indeed not even asked to log a self report anywhere. So that's two people for starters not showing up in the UK stats.
In Spain they only seem to be releasing regional level ( eg Valencia)data and also presumably just those sick enough to be hospitalised.

So no tracking of the real prevalence in the community...

My friend who is a Colombian resident of Spain has just been told they will not be allowed to fly back from Columbia until the 29th of April, they were supposed to fly back this week, they contacted the Spanish Embassy which gave them this information. I don't know if it has any bearing on the lockdown.

This is not a fact, but reading so many different views and listening to various experts and Spanish friends , I think we will be luck if the lockdown is not there till May at least and in some form over the following months. As I say not fact just opinion.

They do release data for the Alicante province, not just the whole of Valencia.
The Spanish press (the main ones like La Vanguardia) have a local section.
As of yesterday, there were 1,039 positive cases and 81 deaths in the Alicante province which is included in the 3,532 confirmed cases and 198 deaths in the whole of the Valencian Community. So Alicante has about one third of the number of cases but almost half the deaths.

Edited:
A new update shows that there are now 91 deaths in the Alicante province.

Whilst they don't show individual towns, you can read the breakdown for the Comunidad Valenciana which breaks it down into some of the provinces.
